静宁县第一中学创建于1941年，原名为“甘肃省立静宁中学”，现为县办重点完全中学。学校占地75亩，校舍建筑面积15000平方米。沿校园中轴线是一组保存完好的明代古建筑群，教学楼、实验大楼等现代化建筑拱立四周，呈幅射状排列。校园内古柏参天、柳丝垂地，四时景色宜人。
    近年来，学校全面贯彻党的教育方针，抓管理，促质量，形成了“管理严、校风正、质量高、环境美”的办学特色。学校有丰富的图书资料，物理、化学、生物实验达到国家一级标准。又自筹资金，使微机室、电教室和语音室先后投入使用。1996年被确定为全省首批50所电教实验学校之一。
    学校历任领导十分重视教师队伍建设，形成了一支“学为人师，行为世范”的教师队伍，全校136名教职工中，本科学历者66人，大专学历者40人。获专业技术职称的共116人，其中特级教师1人，高级教师11人，一级教师45人；教职工中受国家级表彰的4人，省地表彰的34人，县级表彰的75人。这些骨干教师平均年龄仅35岁，他们或著书立说，或探索教法，敬业爱岗，成果斐然，是教育教学可持续发展的宝贵的人才优势。
    崇尚文明，尊师重教，是静宁人民的优良传统。作为全县重点学府的一中，半个世纪以来，已向社会输送了近20000名高初中毕业生。党的十一届三中全会以来，教育教学质量逐年上升，为高等院校输送学生2600多人，为中等专业学校输送近千人，升学率连续10多年居平凉地区各中学之首。1997年高考录取人数突破350人大关，在全省名列前茅。据不完全统计，静宁一中毕业生中已有15人获博士学位，34人获硕士学位，他们遍布全国30个省、市、自治区，成为挑大梁的跨世纪人才。在校学生素质较高，1985年全省“我爱甘肃、我爱家乡”征文竞赛中有7篇作品入围获奖；1989年全国中学生数学联赛中有2人获奖；在省级以上音体美和计算机程序设计竞赛中，先后有50多人(次)获奖。
    校长高崴---学富资深，管理有方，带动全校师生不断创造辉煌：1990年以来学校先后10多次被授予省级、区、县“教育质量先进学校”、“德育工作先进学校”、“国防教育先进单位”等称号；1988年被评为“全国中小学实验仪器管理先进单位”并载入《全国中学名校集》。
    在即将跨入新世纪之际，静宁一中全体师生充满希望，正是“莫言此间山水小，竞起奇峰摩碧空”，汗水与成功，奋斗与辉煌，将与静宁一中同在。
    Jingning No.1 Middle School was set up in 1941. It covers an area of 75 mu, with the construction area of 15000 m2. The school has formed its school feature of "strict management, good school style, high quality and beautiful environment". In 1996, it was taken as one of the first 50 schools for experiment with education with electrical audio－ visual aids. Of 136 teaching staff, 106 teachers are college graduates and vniversity gradvates, and one of them is the special－ grade teacher, eleven of them are senior teachers, forth－ five of them are first－ class teachers. The average age of them, who are the precious talents for development of education is 35 years old. For 50 years, the school has educated about 20000 junior middle school graduates and senior middle school graduates. Since the restoration of college entrance examination, its 2600 students have been enrolled in colleges and universities, near 1000 students have been enrolled in secondary specialized schools, its enrollment quotas has been the highest in pingliang District for ten years. In 1985, their students' 7 compositions were awarded in the composition contest titled " I love Gansu and love my hometown"; 2 students were awarded in the national middle school students' maths contest in 1989. Since 1990, the school has been honoured the titles of "The Advanced School for Teaching Quality", "The Advanced School for Moral Education", "The Advanced Unit for Defence Education" in succession. In 1988, it was awarded "Advanced Unit for Laboratory Equipment Management of National Middle Schools and Primary Schools" and was written into "Collection of National Famous Schools".
